HI

My journey to becoming a pet photographer was one of trial & error (more trial than error). I started photographing professionally in 2006. I've photographed, newborns, children, families, and boudoir. While I always loved photographing those sessions I never quite felt they were "my thing". Fast forward to 2010 when I volunteered to take photos of the adoptable animals at my local shelter. It was so bitter sweet. The dogs & cats were just fantastic. Sweet, loving, innocent animals looking for forever families. I loved capturing their fun, silly personalities. Suddenly it just clicked, "THIS is what i'm supposed to be photographing!" I have been an animal person all of my life. From my stray cat I had when i was 6, the animals that always followed me home, to the 3 dogs, 1 cat, ferrets, fish & hamster I have now. I loved being with them, I love helping them get rescue, I love photographing them. My approach to pet photography is very simple and calm. Let them get to know me, let them sniff around the area (if we are someplace other than your home) let them just be them, while I have a great time playing and capturing that fantastic personality.

No pictures please….

I’m fairly certain that was the theme of this session. Little ones are always on the move, and, I like to shoot what ever they give me. Today Miss Claire was too interested in what was going on around her (mostly my 7 year old daughter) to smile for the camera (aka ME).

There were some very interesting things happening on the floor!

And on her tutu..

This super cute tutu and head band is from Fairy Tutu Boutique you can find her on Etsy.com. Jennifer is a super sweet wonderful military wife, she is helpful creative and gets stuff shipped very quickly. Please check her out next time you’re tutu shopping!

Of course, I can’t post with out some black & white,  and the one time Claire actually did face me..

Thanks Claire, You made me giggle. I had lots of fun watching you explore the studio. Can’t wait to have you come back and play soon!
